Albany Shop Hop...And More - 11/15/2025

Please join us Saturday, November 15 when we’re off to Albany to visit a hobbyist's fish room, a restaurant and 3 fish stores.

If interested in Carpooling, we will be meeting at the Thruway Park and Ride lot next to the International Boxing Hall of Fame at the end of the exit ramp for Thruway exit 34 in Canastota. The carpool to Albany will leave at 9:00 AM.

First stop, a visit to Fred Behrmann’s fish room in Athens, NY. Fred, a well-known and knowledgeable aquarist, is an expert killifish guy who also has experience with many other kinds of tropical fish.

Next, it’s off to lunch at Don Juan’s Mexican Grill and Cantina (Directions). We have found from previous shop hops that socializing at the lunch stop is an important and enjoyable component of the trip.

Then it’s off to the local fish shops!

Just up the road to the first fish store: Eddie’s Aquarium Centre in Cohoes, NY (Directions).

Next stop, we go to our second store, Buckley’s Fishroom in Ballston Spa (Directions).

Finally, it’s back down to Albany to Benson’s Pet Center in Albany NY (Directions).

We expect the visits to the fish room, lunch and three fish stores will take all day. If you can’t spare that much time, you could return to CNY after the Buckley’s Fishroom visit, expected to end in mid-afternoon.
